Battle of the Lovers:
Richmond-Mahinda clash for 105th time

The 105th "Battle of the Lovers" between Richmond College and Mahinda
College will be played at the Galle International Cricket stadium on
March 19 and 20 commencing at 9.30 a.m.
Of the matches played so far Richmond College have won 21 matches
while Mahinda College have won 22 and the rest have ended in draws.
During the World War time (four years) no matches were played.
In 1905 the Battle of the Lovers (Richmond College and Mahinda
College) started. At that time Principal of Richmond College was Fr. J.
H. Darrel while the Principal of Mahinda College was Frank Lee Woodward.
The first match was played at Public Playground, Galle.
This time the match is organized by the Principal Richmond College,
E. M. S. Ekanayake, cricket coach D. Damith Prasanna and the Principal
Mahinda College, R. M. Werahera and the cricket coach K. M. D. Prasad.
Kusal Praboda captains the Richmond College team while Denuwan
Rajakaruna captains the Mahinda College team which includes two Sri
Lanka Youth players Romesh Buddhika and Denuwan Rajakaruna.
Richmond too has a Sri Lanka Youth player in their ranks - Yasodha
Lanka.
