Tribute to true patriot:

House for war heros parents

Defence Ministry Seva Vanitha Unit President Ioma Rajapaksa participates at the handing over of the house.

A father who can bequeath a son with ability and strength to bring the autumn of peace for a country facing danger at the hands of an enemy is a pride to the nation. Noble fathers remain unshaken even if such gallant stars which enlightened their lives departed at the hands of enemy forces. They will proudly commemorate the strength of such sons who helped to re-establish a proud nation.

Then : Wijesiris fathers previous house

War Hero Lance Corporal S.S. Wijesiris father is also such a noble father. Wijesiri who fought to defend the Motherland bade good bye to life some time ago. the Defence Ministry who always came forward to cater to the welfare of War Heros families organized a Ranaviru Upahara ceremony to pay tribute to them.

Wijesiris father who also participated in this ceremony with other parents caught the eye of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Wijesiri always dreamt of providing a decent shelter for his parents who were wallowing in poverty without a proper home. But the cruel war had dashed Wijesiris hopes and dreams. When he was killed his parents didnot have a proper house to keep his remains for the funeral rites. With Wijesiris death his father had to continue living in a makeshift hut.

Now : The newly built house

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was moved on hearing the sad story of Wijesiris father. He briefed authorities about the matter and soon a house was built on a land belonging to Wijesiris father.

This house was officially handed over to Wijesiris parents recently as a tribute to War Hero Wijesiri who sacrificed his life to defend the unity and territorial integrity of the Motherland.
