Nadeesha WARNASURIYA
JHU Parliamentarians and their supporters gathered at Viharamaha Devi
park, Colombo yesterday(01)protesting against American interference in
the domestic affairs of Sri Lanka and their international propaganda to
distort the country's image making allegations of war crimes and human
rights violations.
The JHU questioned whether Americans are against the elimination of
terrorism in Sri Lanka which brought misfortune to its people for more
than three decades while the US itself has proclaimed a global war on
terrorism.
"We are protesting against the action of the former US Ambassador
Robert O Blake for bringing accusations of human rights violations
against Sri Lanka and we are organizing worldwide protests. The USA was
the hidden force in every war that took place in the world during the
recent times. It is responsible for the crises in Afghanistan and in
Iraq where thousands have been killed," said JHU parliamentary leader
Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera. Meanwhile, Western Province Council
Minister Udaya Gammanpila criticized the the actions of David Milliband
and Hilary Clinton for supporting the LTTE underhand and further
condemned US interference in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka, asking
them to mind their own affairs.
Many JHU monks and supporters carrying placards and posters walked
towards the US Embassy braving the heavy rains to handover a petition to
the Embassy.
