Tiger vehicle bomb expert arrested

LTTE suspect Balachandran (48) arrested in Vavuniya has helped to carry out LTTE bomb explosions by fixing bombs in more than 20 vehicles including cars, vans, three-wheel taxis and motorcycles according to confessions made by him during intellogations conducted by a special police team from the Central Province.

A Police spokesman said the suspect had been responsible for fixing bombs into a Canter van which exploded at Digampathana, Sigiriya killing 101 Navy personnel in October 2006. He has confessed to having fixed four bombs weighing nearly 100 kilos to the van to cause maximum damage. The suspect had given vital information that would lead to the arrest of a few more LTTE suspects soon.
