NHDA to build 5,000 houses this year

The National Housing Development Authority has started to build 3023 houses under the Gama Neguma developing program.

They have decided to build a total of 5000 houses before the end of this year.

According to the National Housing Development Authority officials they have spent Rs.378 million for the houses.

They obtained Rs.15 million from the Treasury and Rs.113 million from the investments of the authority and Rs.250 million from future owners of these homes.

Parallel to the Jathika Sevana housing program this Gama Neguma housing program was launched in all Divisional Secretariat Divisions and Grama Niladhari divisions. Under this program a Rs.100,000 loan is given to build a new house and Rs.75,000 to repair a house.

The National Housing Development Authority provides technical advice to build these houses.
