Host of entertainment from Swarnavahini
A new set of teledramas lined up to entertain the
audience this season:

Degammadiyawa
Shirley P. Delankawala brings his latest teledrama titled
Degammadiyawa every Sunday at 8.30 p.m. starting off from July 12.
Delankawala's previous creations Olu, Chathurya and Handava have managed
to win a lot of applause from the audience. His latest tele creation
will take his fans back to the beauty of the rural village environment.
The teledrama is based on the conflict of village life and city life.
Seasoned actors as well as young blood are instilled into the creation
to enhance the value of the product. Wasanthi Chathurani, Cletus Mendis,
Bimal Jayakody, Lakshman Mendis, Suraj Mapa, Udayanthi Kulathunga,
Paboda Sandeepani, Nuwan Kulasekara, Roshan Ravindra, Vathika Ravinath,
Tekla Kumudu Kumari Mahendra Weeraratne, Gayan Lakruwan, Kaushalya
Samarasinghe, Kanchanamala Mahavithana and others are included in the
cast. The tale starts with a tragic tone. Wimale leaves his village in
search of a job after his father's death. He starts off as a labourer
for masons but soon masters their skills. There he meets Sachitra, the
daughter of the woman who provides him with meals. They fall for each
other and they marry. Though he takes her back to his village, she is
unable to live in happiness in the beautiful and calm environment. Thus
he is forced to take up the hectic lifestyle of the city again.

Sachitra goes abroad in hope of earning more money for them to
survive. There her initial fondness for the luxurious lifestyle grows
up. Their children too take up certain trends which sweep the city at
each point of time.
Meanwhile Wimale's mother, Rathu Hami, and her youngest son and
daughter are engaged with a battle for survival. Life is harsh as
Sirimale tries to find ways to improve their lifestyle and at times ends
up in trouble with the law. He is all for justice and Rathu Hami worries
about his welfare. The only person left to give an ear to her troubles
is her daughter Indira.
Indira looks up to Sirimale and finds no fault with his nature. For
her no one is quite like him and it is only Upamali, Wimale's past
girlfriend who embodies qualities which suits him. Fortunately both
realise this fact and they marry. Wimale and Sirimale's lives flow in
parallel but in two paths: one towards decadence and the other towards
hard earned prosperity.
The story is by Kande Dickman while Pushpakumara Ellawala had
scripted the screenplay. It is produced by Suraj Mapa and Dayananda
Weerasinghe. Chandana Jayasinghe is in charge of the lightning and
capturing the action on lens. The editor is Buddhika Ranasinghe,
assistant director Ruwan Bandara, art director Manoj Wickramasinghe,
production manager Lal Dissanayake and make up by Priyantha S.
Vanninayake. Kasun Kalhara is the music director and Dammika Pathiratne
is the still photographer for Degammadiyawa.
Depath Nai
Eranga Senaratne's popular teledrama Depath Nai which enthralled
masses will once again be telecast on Swarnavahini on weekdays at 7.30
p.m. Sriyantha Mendis, Duleeka Marapana, Ajith Lokuge, Srinath Maddumage,
Sarath Chandrasiri, Hashinika Karaliyadda, Bandula Abeysuriya, Roshan
Ondaatje and many more take on significant roles in the teledrama which
won Duleeka the best actress award at the Sumathi Tele Awards in 2004.
Similarly Srinath walked away with the best supporting actor award for
his role in Depath Nai at the same awards function.
The story revolves around a driver who is employed at a secretariat
and his climb up the ladder to achieve the position of a powerful
minister in the country. The script is by Sunanda Silva and P. Nandasena
is the cameraman. Tharupathi Munasinghe has directed the music. |
