The staff of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation has the prime
responsibility of rebuilding public confidence in their institution and
transforming it to be the giant in the field of insurance, President
Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
The President said this when he made a surprise visit to the Sri
Lanka Insurance Corporation head office yesterday morning on an
inspection tour.
Addressing the Corporation staff, the President said the Government
had rendered a great service towards strengthening the public sector.
The word privatisation had been erased from the government vocabulary
and it was spending colossal funds to maintain certain unprofitable
State ventures.
The Government had also implemented a series of measures to rebuild
the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and the institution would be able to
attain all set targets if the employees rendered a dedicated service,
the President said.
The President also requested all staff to render their unstinted
cooperation to the newly appointed Chairman and Board of Directors to
help them improve quality and service to its clients. State Revenue and
Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, and Secretary to the President
Lalith Weeratunga accompanied the President.
The new Board of Directors led by Chairman Pradeep Kariyawasam and
CEO Nalaka Godahewa were present. |
