Sampath Bank donates artificial limbs to Ranaviru Sevana

It is with great pride that we remember our patriotic soldiers, who fight for the country under dire circumstances. It is with great honour that we thank them for the service they render, putting their lives on the line, just so that we may have a safe tomorrow.

Chairman, Sampath Bank I.W. Senanayake presents an artificial limb at the event.

Even though all of us cannot fight the war at the frontier, there is much we can do to contribute. It is only after nearly three decades the war is finally over. During this time, the war has claimed innumerable lives as war casualties and maimed an equal number. Many children have lost their fathers, wives their husbands and parents their sons.

Yet, some soldiers return home, without a limb, vision or some other sacrifice made for the safety of the country, that which leaves them now to fight a private battle of living the rest of their life and supporting their families who depend on them.

At times, the soldier is the sole bread winner of the family and returning home, with a physical disability, leaves him and his family helpless.

This is why the Sampath Bank team, made a donation to the rehabilitation fund of Ranaviru Sevana, where the money will be used for artificial limbs.

This act was initiated by the Welfare Society of the International Operations Division of Sampath Bank. The entire Sampath team contributed to raise a fund of over one million rupees to be donated to the Ranaviru Rehabilitation Fund.

For the initial stage, 25 soldiers who lost a limb at the frontier received artificial limbs on June 7. This was made possible by the timely contribution made by Sampath Bank.

During the second phase the Sampath team hopes to lend a helping hand to over 100 soldiers who will now have to fight their private battle.
