Government Information News on Dialog mobiles
Dialog GSM expanded its popular ‘SMS news service’ with the addition
of the Government Information Department to offer breaking news alerts
to Dialog subscribers.
The partnership gives Dialog customers the opportunity to receive the
latest news updates and government announcements from the Information
Department direct to their Dialog mobiles.

“We are glad to tie-up with Dialog Telekom to disburse national
information to Sri Lankans through SMS medium,” Media and Information
Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.
“Access to information plays a key role in the development process of
a country and we believe that educating and informing its people is the
first step towards achieving this, and this is what we aim to do through
this partnership” he said.

Mobile devices have become an effective platform for dissemination
and consumption of news and infotainment, and we are confident that this
partnership will contribute to the dissemination of information
responsibly across multiple boundaries.
Information pertaining to national development initiatives, key
policy decisions and other important national news will be delivered to
subscribers via this new service.
Dialog customers could subscribe to this service by typing ‘info’ and
sending it to 678. A free three-month trial offer is given to
subscribers who register for this service.
The partnership with the Government Information Department adds to
the news services already on offer from Dialog Telekom, who was the
first to introduce the service to the Sri Lankan market. Dialog
subscribers can receive news alerts via Daily News and Derana, and the
introduction of the new service would complement this popular service.

Sigiriya Rest House stands just a bird’s eye view from Sigiriya Rock,
now named as the eighth wonder of the world. Guests at the resthouse get
a panoramic view of the rock from their rooms and lobby area. Therefore,
the resthouse is one of the most popular stop-overs for both foreign and
local tourists visiting Sigiriya.
The resthouse has got more popular following the promotion of
elephant rides.
