Pakistan says may shift forces to counter India if necessary ISLAMABAD, Dec 29 (AFP) - Pakistan said Saturday it may redeploy some of its border forces to meet a potential threat from India. "The government of Pakistan is watching the situation with very great care," said Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar. "If it becomes necessary Pakistan may make a decision to move its forces where needed for the purposes of the defence of the state," he told a press conference. Analysts say that in light of the Indian military build-up Pakistan may have to redeploy thousands of soldiers currently watching its western border for al-Qaeda fighters fleeing from Afghanistan. |
