JVP has no right to talk about peace - Tyronne

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Tyronne Fernando on Sunday December 30 stressed that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has no right to talk about peace since they are responsible for destroying peace in this country on many an occasion.

The Minister made this statement speaking on two different occasions in Moratuwa, the first was the inauguration of the bus service between Thelawala and Galle Road, and thereafter at the Soysapura Community Centre where the Minister distributed school books for 500 children and 40 sets of weight training equipment to 40 registered sports clubs in Moratuwa.

"The JVP attacked police stations in 1971 and in 1988-89 and they assassinated thousands of Sinhalese people. It is a farce that they talk of the welfare of the Sinhalese," the Minister urged.

The Minister also said that people of this country who yearn for peace must follow Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and even some of the senior members of the PA such as M. H. M. Fowzie and Richard Pathirana who have expressed their support and confidence in Prime Minister for his attempts to bring peace to this country.
