Wijayasiri in Kandy The fourth accused in the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens cafeteria murder case Rohana Kumara which took place on February 5th, this year, and was absconding, was arrested by Piliyandala Police. He was handed over to the Peradeniya Police and produced him before Kandy Magistrate Leon Seneviratne who remanded him. Rohana Kumara was absconding and the Court decided to hear the case against him in absentia. This case arises from an incident that took place at the cafeteria at the Botanical Gardens Peradeniya in which the owner of the cafeteria and of the Kings Park Hotel Kandy, Godagama Wijekoon of Kandy was killed allegedly by shooting, on 5.2.2001. Four persons including the wife of the victim have been charged for murder and conspiring to murder and the first and second accused who were said to have been arrested at the scene are in remand while the 3rd accused Luximi Kusumalatha Gamage, the wife of the victim had been allowed bail by the Kandy High Court Judge. Wijaya Wickramaratne PC with Attorney-at-Law Hirantha Herath appeared for the 4th accused, who was produced on this occasion. |
