Strong earthquake jolts Taiwan TAIPEI, Dec 18 (AFP) - A strong undersea earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale rocked Taiwan Tuesday, the central weather bureau said. Earlier reports by a television station put the magnitude at 6.5. The quake struck at 12:03 pm (0403 GMT) with its epicenter 139.5 kilometer (83.7 miles) east of Hualien city in eastern Taiwan, said seismologist Chen Kuo-chang. There was no immediate report of damage or casualties. |
