Let us forget all differences and develop country - Minister Imtiasz

by Kalutara group correspondent

"When you look at the world in a wider perspective, it appears that all the countries are developing, but unfortunately the condition of our country has deteriorated during the last seven years. Therefore, it has become our duty to forget all petty political and other differences and unite to build our country", said Minister of Mass Communication Imtiasz Bakeer Markar.

He was speaking at the commencement of the UNP victory rally at the Kalutara Bodhi premises. The rally preceded towards Beruwala stopping at Kalutara South Wettumakade, Katukurunda, Paiyagala, Daluwatta and Maggona.

Minister Bakeer Markar said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, we have accepted the administration of this country for a period of 6 years. It has fallen on us to sacrifice night and day throughout this period to work hard to salvage the country which has gone deep down the mud, we are determined therefore to take the lead, shunning all differences of party, cast, creed, religion etc., he said.

"If you observe any shortcomings in me please don't hesitate to criticise me, I will gladly accept any type of criticism.

The people of this country have chosen a UNP government for the betterment of their children. Therefore we are duty bound to fulfil their expectation.

Criticise only when it is necessary but, unite as a whole when to develop the country. We all should genuinely try to improve the condition of the country and I as the Minister of Mass Communication invite all of you to join us for this effort, I take this opportunity to thank all who helped me to win recent General Election, he said.
