Peace loving citizens defeated communalism

by Ambalangoda special corrospondent

The mandate given by the peace loving citizens of the country at the general elections had defeated communalism and once again forged unity among diverse communities of Sri Lanka, said the President of the 'Southern Province United Media Association', W.T.J.S. Kaviratne addressing a committee meeting of the Media Association held just after the elections, at the residence of its Secretary R. Gnanadasa.

Even after a resounding victory at the general elections, in tune with the aspirations of the peace loving majority of the country, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had already made an appeal to all political parties to join hands as one nation in resolving the burning problems, said Secretary Gnanadasa. Somadasa Abeywickrama a coordinator of the Galle district, also spoke.
