The Minister Jayasuriya was addressing a gathering at Attanagalla Raja Maha Vihara on Sunday where he sought the blessings of the Maha Sangha after assuming duties.

Our Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will put an end to the bloodshed in the North and the East while uniting people in the South who are divided on party lines, he said.

He said, "The people elected us to office to serve them. We have a vast responsibility towards them we, Ministers and MPs are determined to work as a team to fulfil the aspirations of the people while correcting past errors. Cooperative and consensual governance is our aim the Minister said.

He also said that his Ministry has a vast responsibility towards the country. The current power crisis is due to corruption mis-management and bad planning. Steps would be taken to revive all the institutions coming under his Ministry, he said. Gampaha District MP Sarath Chandra Rajakaruna said he would take steps to develop eight underdeveloped villages in the Attanagalla electorate by January next year.
