Two supporters of PA Ratnapura District candidates John Seneviratne and Premalal have been allegedly attacked by an armed gang supposed to be supporters of Ratnapura UNP Group Leader Gamini Athukorala on November 27 at Halkadaliya, Yakdehiwatta, Nivithigala, the PA Election Campaign and Media Coordinating Unit said.

In this incident, Linton Christie Joseph, a resident of Weddagalawatte is reported to have died of stab injuries. Ershard of Yakdehiwatta was hospitalised following cut injuries on the ear.

In another incident at Yatiyantota on November 28, a Samurdhi Niyamaka called Chinthaka Gunadasa has been seriously injured in an assault by a gang alleged to be supporters of UNP Candidate Sujith Sanjaya Perera, the son of former UNP MP Wilson Perera.

The victim is under treatment at Karawanella hospital and the suspects who were produced before the Ruwanwella Court were released on bail, according to Yatiyantota Police.
