Army detects LTTE propaganda cassette

The Army had detected a three-wheeler playing an audio cassette of the LTTE while campaigning for UNP candidates contesting in the North and the East.

The detection was made by the Army at a checkpoint near the Point Pedro bus depot.

Information received by the Colombo Police Headquarters revealed that the LTTE Audio Cassette boosts the Sea Tiger Wing, Women's Wing of the LTTE and Velupillai Prabhakaran, the leader of a proscribed organisation in Sri Lanka. It was also revealed that the contents of the cassettes violate certain provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 48 of 1979.

The Army also detected a three wheeler with the LTTE audio cassette while campaigning for UNP candidates, Esakthimuthu Arunachalam and Sinnathamby Kanapathipillai of Uduppity, VVT.
