All support for Susanthika to win an Olympic Gold - Mangala Samaraweera

by Mahil Liyanage

Minister of Sports, Housing, Public Utilities and Urban Development Mangala Samaraweera speaking after the opening of the Sanath Jayasuriya Stadium at Matara on Tuesday said that by naming the stadium after Sanath he fulfilled a dream he had for the last several years. Sanath has brought honour and fame to Matara and he hoped that Sanath would continue to do so in the future too.

"I will develop Southern Province and bring it up to the standard of Colombo and the Western Province. achieve this we should forget political differences. Some people are saying that Susanthika is not on good terms with me. It is not so. I was only trying to safeguard a personal friend of mine.

The Sports Minister said that he has the highest regard for Susanthika who had done Sri Lanka proud by winning a Bronze Medal at the Sydney Olympics." I will give her all the assistance she needs to win a Gold Medal at the 2004 Olympics" said the Minister in conclusion amidst cheers from the large crowd present on the occasion.
