No security for Amarasinghe

Police Headquarters, Colombo, in a special press release of November 27th, categorically denies the news publicised in several press and electronic media that the JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe has been provided security by a team of 50 personnel from the Presidential Security Division. The press release states with responsibility that this is a rumour based on a media statement made by UNP General Secretary Senarath Kapukotuwa and emphasises that no police officer has been detailed for the security of JVP Leader Somawansa Amarasinghe.

Due to this false information, the IGP is currently pressed with a large number of requests by other candidates who demand equal security on par with the security for Somawansa Amarasinghe, states the press release.
