PA attacked poor man's hearth - A.H.M. Azwer

The PA Government led by President Kumaratunga first attacked the hearth of the poor man.

It has not been lit for weeks and they are now being occupied by dogs.

Due to the mismanagement of the economy by the PA Government the poor men are forced to become `Mankollakarayas' since they have deprived of their livelihood.

The PA Government was unable to get money into the hands of the people since they have not started proper development programs utilising the resources available.

Thus the PA has thrown out the innocent men from pavements which was a major income generating place for the poor folk to earn their living. The PA Government did not take any step to reduce the prices of fuel oils even the prices of crude oil has been reduced in the world market by ten dollars. Kerosene - the poor man's oil, has been risen to Rs.20 though it can be reduced to Rs.11.

A CPC hierarchy is now engaged in political prostitution despite his duty of managing the prices of fuel to reduce sky rocketing cost of living.

People have to speak on prices of milk powder in spoons not in packets as their economy has desperately damaged during the PA regime.

The UNP beheaded the poor man - Alavi Mowlana

The UNP now sympathising over the cost of living and hearths of the poor men during their regime did not hit on their stomach but beheaded the poor men by depriving the jobs of 110,000 workers who demanded Rs.10 salary hike in 1980.

The hearths of those workers were not lit till the PA Government came to power in 1994. No attention was given to the grievances of those workers and they had to commit suicide as they were unable to feed their families.

There was no problem regarding oil prices in the world market and there was no proper war in the country for them to spend billions of funds. The PA Government shouldering all these problems increased the salaries of the Government workers twice and thrice.

Despite the economic hardships due to the setbacks in the world economy the PA Government created a peaceful environment for the people to live in this country without any fear about their near and dear ones.

They increased the burden on the people specially the innocent women in the country by killing over 64,000 people most of them the breadwinners of families.

Today even the US government has to suffer from the world economy.
