Every UNP government represented capitalists - Nimal Jayawardhane

by Galewala Group Corrospondent

The Matale district PA candidate and Chairman of the Matale Pradeshiya Sabha, Nimal Jayawardhane speaking at an election propaganda meeting held at Matale Yatawatta, said: The voters of Sri Lanka have experienced the rule of several UNP governments under different leaders.

Although there were some special features in each of the UNP Governments led by those leaders, there was one striking similarity; every UNP Government represented the interests of the local and foreign capitalists. Ranil is going around the country making promise after promise pretending to have a lot of sympathy for the people and asking power to give every comfort to them. I would like to ask the leader of the UNP as to why he could not make use of his powers as the Education Minister, Industrial Minister and Prime Minister to bring about those comforts to the people ?

The UNP led by Ranil is not only capitalist; it is the manifestation of the anti-Sri Lankan Eelamist force. This truth is known by the people. They can remember the real Ranil in power. However the traitors betrayed PA for money, praised Ranil on the stages.

But Matale voters cannot be misled. We have not seen any former PA supporter changed-over to UNP as a result of the traitors' influence. Instead there seems to be a landslide of traditional UNP supporters crossing-over to PA indicating a strong PA Government with a clear majority. The opportunists sold people's mandate for money, would be thrown to the political dust-bin at the December 5th General Election.
