No point going behind JVP as Marxism has failed world over - Karunasena Kodituwakku

No political party or a government in the country have served the younger generation of this country or kept faith in them, like the United National Party or the previous UNP administrations, declared Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, the Media Spokesman and the Colombo District UNP candidate.

Addressing a UNP Propaganda rally at Koratota he went on to say that after the UNP came to power in a landslide victory in 1977 it entrusted as most important and ambitious development scheme, the massive accelerated Mahaweli Development Project to the youthful Gamini Dissanayake and the education and youth services to Ranil Wickremesinghe who were young politicians.

"By accepting the responsibilities entrusted upon them the two young leaders proved their mettle beyond expectations and were able to turn a new leaf in the history of industrial and agricultural development and education and development of youth in the country.

"In the long journey of the history of the mankind the youth have immensely contributed in deciding the course of that march".

What is necessary is to appreciate their contribution and encourage them to continue the good work, Kodituwakku said.

The UNP never forgets the importance and the respect the younger generation deserves and given them a pride of place within the ranks of the party. A number of young UNP candidates have done very effective campaigns in many districts. These young candidates are doing a wonderful job to the utmost satisfaction to the party leadership and there is no doubt that these young leaders would bring a sweeping victory for the party at the forthcoming General Election, Kodituwakku stressed.

"Mr. Wickremesinghe is the youngest national leader in the present day politics in the country and with his experience spanning approximately three decades. If the development through youth leadership is considered an art the UNP possesses a vast experience in that respect more than any other political party".

Kodituwakku further added that he obtained vast experience and knowledge by serving the country as a lecturer and a Vice Chancellor and also as the Director of the Graduates Placement Service. He got a first hand opportunity to identify the problems and grievances of the youth of the country and remedies for them. He hopes to use this experience and know-how to give a new lease of life to the younger generation of the country after December 5th.

The JVP who were able to mislead a section of the youth in the past by pasting attractive hand written marxist slogans, has finally hung on to the saripota as left leaders did in the past. The marxism has failed everywhere including in the former Soviet Union where first marxist revolution was done and first communist government installed. The Soviet Union was blessed with the best natural resources, but it has failed miserably.

Therefore there is no point in going behind the JVP.

Making a plea to the youth who believe in optimistic but unpracticable objectives Kodituwakku asked them to see the reality and vote for the UNP to realise their objectives and brighten their future under the UNP government.
