I have accepted the super challenge of defeating Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake from the Horana electorate, Kalutara district UNF candidate and Horana Chief Organiser P.D. Abeyratne said.

Addressing an election meeting in Panadura, Abeyratne said:

Once I defeated the P.M. and this will be the second time of defeating him by popular votes. Any one could bet on this issue.

Abeyratne said he is sure that six United National Front candidates will be selected to represent Kalutara District in Parliament.

"Many people lost employment due to closure of Tourist hotels and garment Factories in the kalutara District. There are abandoned paddy fields in the district.

Farmers were unable to cultivate due to non renovation of irrigation canals in the kalutara District.
