'UNP has no proper and able leadership to rule the country'

by Thihagoda Group Corrospondent

People of this country have a great confidence in the PA led by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and they will give a fresh mandate for the PA at this election, Matara district PA candidate and Chairman of the Southern Provincial Council H. G. Sirisena said.

Addressing an election meeting at Sulthangoda, he further said:

"UNP has no proper and able leadership to administer the country. It has no clear-cut policies. Samurdhi movement launched by this administration has been a great success. It has implemented fresh and novel programmes for the promotion of the standard of living of the poorest of the poor in the country at the moment.

"In 2000 general election people in Sri Lanka elected PA to rule the country for another six years.

As the UNP tried to come into power through the back door with the help of PA dissidents, President had to dissolve Parliament and call for a general election.

Even with a devastating war in North and East the present Government has played a vital role to improve the economy of the country. In spite of obstacles from UNP supporters and LTTE this government will win this election. A good lesson would be taught to persons who crossed over by the voters in the country he added.

Gnanasiri Vithanage, Chairman Pradeshiya Sabha, Malimbada addressing the rally said that passenger transport services in Sri Lanka have greatly been promoted by this government. Specially rural bus services have been popular among the people. Rural electricity, water supply and road development projects have already been completed and the some are nearing completion.

A noticeable progress has already been made in infrastructure development in this country by the PA Government he told.
