to be supported on Nov. 26
by Kumar Wethasinghe The Supreme Court yesterday put off the fundamental rights application filed by UNP Deputy Chairman Karu Jayasuriya against the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd, to be supported on November 26. The Bench comprised Justices S. W. B. Wadugodapitiya and Hector Yapa. When the matter came up the application being a writ application. The court desired it be taken up before a panel of three judges on Monday, November 26. Additional Solicitor General Saleem S. Marsoof PC with Senior State Counsel Shavindra Fernando and Riyaz Hamza and N. Pulle appeared for the AG's Department and the Commissioner of Elections. Nihal Jayamanne PC appeared for ANCL and its Chairman, Jayampathi Wickremaratne PC with Pubudini Wickramaratne instructed by Gastern Jayakody and Ana Wickremasinghe appeared for the ANCL editors. Upul Jayasuriya with Ronald Perera, Sujeewa Serasinghe instructed by Samararatne Associates appeared for the petitioner. Further hearing will resume on November 26. |
