Only a Leftist Government can take Sri Lanka towards progress - Amarasiri Dodangoda

by Kahawa Speial Corrospondent

Sri Lanka can be taken towards progress only by a Leftist Government, Minister of Technical and Vocational Education Amarasiri Dodangoda said on Sunday.

He was speaking at a meeting in Ratgama.The Minister further said;

"UNP denial, of a secret pact with the LTTE is an utter falsehood, and deceptive as they have already inserted of an interim administration to North-East for a short period, in their election manifesto".

When 10 of our MPs crossed over to the Opposition bribed by the business magnates and LTTE, at 30 million rupees each, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had nothing to do, other than dissolve Parliament seeking a fresh mandate from the people and that is why this election is held.

"According to PA-JVP MoU, the steps were underway to net those big loan defaulters in order to regain the unpaid bank loans, and at this juncture, the LTTE all time seeking an opportunity to destroy President Kumaratunga and her Government joined hands with the rival forces".People will deliver their verdict on those bribe-takers on December 5, he said.

"Our country can be taken towards progress only by a Leftist Government.

"The UNP and its leader Ranil Wicremesinghe were the most suitable tools for those business tycoons and LTTE to activate their coup against the government.

"Ranil Wickremesinghe is a political recluse and a mad cap after eleven successive election defeats since '94 and probably marks his 12th successive election defeat on December 5."

"Sensible and patriotic people are with the PA, and not with UNP. Short time interim administration given to Prabhakaran in the North-East means giving Eelam on a platter for ever. You all should be aware of it" Amarasiri Dodangoda said.

Dr. Richard Pathirana, Minister of State Administration, Administrative Reforms and Southern Development said, that, what had done to rural areas under PA regime is more than enough for the people to decide whether to vote for the PA again or not, leaving aside what is said by the UNP. "Anybody can see with opened eyes the developmental changes taken place in various sectors since '94, he said.

"The UNP candidate to Ratgama, former MP Sarath Gunawardane being a resident of the Ratgama electorate did nothing for Ratgama, and driven out from Habaraduwa has come back to Ratgama this time, but the former State Minister Nandimitta de Zoysa telephoned me and said, he should not support Sarath Gunawardane" he revealed.

Galle District PA candidate, Ven. Beddegama Samitha thera said, that, the UNP had made its mark, as "human killers" since '77, and no doubt they will do the same thing again if they came to power.

Former MPs, Keerthi Mawellage, Nanda Gunasinghe, and SPC members Mohan P. de Silva, A.G.C. Piyasiri, Shan Wijelal de Silva, Ananda Pathmasiri Kariyawasam, and all Galle district PA candidates, and national list candidate Dr. Jayasiri Mendis spoke.
