'Let us get together to develop this country'

by Badulla South Group correspondent

Sri Lanka is a multi-national and multi-religious country. Every person should get together and work hard peacefully to develop this country, said Dr. S. R. Krishan, Group Leader of the National Democratic Party for the Badulla district.

He was speaking at a meeting at the Amurdha Valley village in Hali-Ela.

Dr. Krishan said estate workers cannot forget the National Workers Union because it rendered a clear and maximum service to the workers. We held a number of free medical clinics and donated spectacles and medicine to the needy. Using various means we solved the workers problems as quickly as possible.

"Always we are ready to give our helping hand to poor workers without expecting something in return.

Even now estate workers have a lot of unsolved problems such as housing, sanitary and other basic facilities. If you vote for our party, we would solve all your problems gradually and create a better future for you.

"We like to serve all without party or racial bias. Your victory is our victory. Help us to develop the country by protecting democracy."

A. M. Amarasooriya, Factory Officer, Mahadowa Estate, K. W. Velayudam and A. M. Ratnayake also spoke.
