Our party men were bought over by crooks - Salinda Dissanayake

by A.M. Wijeratne Banda

"It is true that there are some disappointments among our party men. But they are not ready to defeat this Government. That's why our party men are still with us even though some of our former Ministers were bought over by crooks. We should build a strong Government to seek solutions for our problems," Samurdhi Deputy Minister, Salinda Dissanayake said.

He was addressing a meeting held at the Rideegama Community Hall. A joint organisation was also set up at this meeting to win the Hiriyala and Dodamgaslanda Electorates. Speaking further, the Deputy Minister said that the people have the strength to achieve victory for the PA in both Electorates and appoint two MPs. "Our Government has done a vast service to the country that cannot be compared to the service done by any other Government. But we could not solve the personal problems of our party men because of the war in the North and several other unexpected problems. There may be disappointment among our party men. But they are not ready to change the Government and this large gathering is a good example for it.

The Deputy Minister Dissanayake said that several forces are trying to defeat the government. On one side there are several crooks who did not pay loans obtained from state banks. The LTTE, the section which tries to divide the country is the other side. The main intention of these forces is to bring Ranil into power and achieve their targets. Because of this, all the people who love this country should forget personal disputes and unite to ensure the PA's victory. We should not allow the re-activation of the past period of terror.

PA candidate and Pradeshiya Sabha Member, R.D. Wimaladas, said that nobody can accuse us when considering the large number of development activities that took place in the area during the past seven years. Rs. 7 million has already been granted for this year for development activities.

Rideegama Pradeshiya Sabha Member, Wilbert Kulatunge, Ibbagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Member, Ashoka Gunaratne and several others spoke.
