Very soon the dissidents will leave UNP too - Janaka Bandara Tennakoon

by Sigiriya Group Correspondent

PA dissidents who have now joined the UNP will repeat it and leave the UNP soon, Matale District PA candidate and Deputy Minister, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon told a mass rally held in Dambulla.

He said the President signalled them to be scrutinized that they misuse public money for their personal benefit. The President took a bold decision."

Tennakoon further said:

"During my tenure of office as your Member in Parliament, I did everything possible for Dambulla to make you comfortable in every sphere of your life. I gave a foremost place to agriculture. The result was the creation of the Special Economic Centre. In respect of education, you need not send your children to distant schools. Dambulla Maha Vidyalaya was made a National College with all the infrastructure facilities.

In the near future the children of Dambulla would come into the limelight in education and sports. Dambulla boys will soon be cricketers of international fame. Is'nt it a pride to have an International Cricket Ground in Dambulla. Therefore it is left to you to decide who your future M.P. should be.

Tennekoon said further, having elections at short intervals is an expensive task. This situation has been caused due to the work of the U.N.P. who wanted to topple the duly elected Government by vile means. If they were to have their ambitions achieved, by now the LTTE would have established their own Government, the so called Eelam.

You all know some prominent parliamentarians left the PA Government and joined hands with the UNP. Who are they? Were'nt they enjoying the full privileges of the Government? Why did they have to leave? Our President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga signalled them to be scrutinized carefully that they misuse public money for their benefit. It was a very bold decision. She very well know the out come. Yet for all, that she had taken this decision for the love of the country.

Very soon you would be able to see that those people would repeat the same thing to the UNP as well, Tennekoon said.

I do not want to waste my time by resorting to this type of ugly politics. Let us think of the country. We are at war and great sums of money is devoured by this. Valuable lives are lost. Without a country of our own can we survive? Therefore it is your duty, and your right to do the right thing. I say outright that we have been doing the right thing. Thus, I urge you to cast your vote in favour of the P.A. and pave the way for the prosperity of future generations".
