Rains washes out second day of Windies practice match The second day's play between the touring West Indies and the Sri Lanka 'A' side was washed out without a ball bowled because of rain at the NCC grounds yesterday. Intermittent rains left the bowlers run ups and certain sections of the outfield soft and soggy and umpires Gamini Silva and Nandasena Pathirana eventually ruled out play for the day at 1.15 p.m. West Indies put into bat first on day one made 334 for seven wickets by the close with skipper Carl Hooper making a top score of 117 and Ravindra Pushpakumara taking four wickets. Play will commence half an hour early today (weather permitting) at 10 a.m. and go on till 6.30 p.m.
