Priyantha Fernando yesterday allowed an application by Inspector Somasiri Liyanage of the Gampaha Special Investigating Unit to send the productions, .45 Pistol - alleged to have used for the killing of Customs Officer Sujith Prasanna Perera - and several spent bullets, to the Government Analyst for a comprehensive report. The Gampaha Police and the CID conducting investigations into the murder of the Customs Officer yesterday told court that four suspects will be charged in connection with the murder. They are Vajira Indrajith, Piyasena Ratnayake, Saman Udaya Kumar and A. Don Priyantha. The Magistrate ordered the four suspects be remanded till November 5. Eleven other suspects will be charged with aiding and abetting Anura Weerawansa, the principal suspect in the murder of Customs Officer Sujith Perera, to escape from the country, conspiracy, concealing evidence and harbouring the principal suspect, Weerawansa. They are businessmen A. C. Mohamed Mansoor, M. K. Francis Shelton Perera, M. Anthony Fernando, T. Anthony Perera. K. A. Samson Ferando, K.J. Anthony, David Loganathan, Deniyaya Dharmapala, Punchi Banda Dissanayake, N. Gamage Sunil and Mahindasena Ramanayake. These suspects were earlier granted bail and directed to appear in court on November 23. Inspector Somasiri Liyanage, OIC, CDB, Gampaha Police Special Branch yesterday filed a further report in court and said that the dossier of the investigations in connection with main case of murder of Customs Officer Sujith Prasanna Perera had been forwarded to the Attorney-General and awaiting a reply. Western Province (North) DIG Daya Jayasundera is directing investigations assisted by Detective SP Nimal Kulatunga and Inspectors D.M. Jayasinghe, Somasiri Liyanage, Sagara Liyanage and Camillus of the Gampaha Police. Nalinda Indatissa, Arjun Premaratne, Udaya Rohan de Silva, Sanjey Gamage, Anton Senanayake, S. Kalupahana, Nalin Dissanayake and Ms Chandra Senanayake appeared for the defence. Customs Officer Sujith Perera was gunned down by two unidentified gunmen at the Kiribathgoda- Peliyagoda junction on March 24 while returning from his mother-in-law's place.
