Town Hall bomb Blast: CID awaits AG's ruling on dossier

The CID investigating the Town Hall bomb blast filed a further report in connection with their investigations before the Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge A. A. R. Heiyanthuduwa yesterday and said that the dossier of the investigation had been forwarded to the Attortney General and they are awaiting a ruling on steps to be taken against the suspects now detained under the PTA.

Earlier the CID produced two more suspects, Jeyantha Lawrence and Sinnah Gunasekeram alias Gune before court and remanded till November 16.

The CID told court that a woman Thangewaran Regina Kumar had made a confession in connection with the blast. Sivanarayan Pushparani who is wanted in connection with the blast had escaped to the operaional areas, the CID said.

Four other suspects who were taken into custody in connection with the bomb blast, Ragupathy Sharwan Wasantha, Chandra Iyar Ragan, V. Varatha Raja alias Udaya and Sathavel Ilayswari are being detained until the completion of the investigation. The four suspects were also further remanded till November 16.

Twenty six persons including Colombo DIG T. N. de Silva and four officers of the PSD died in the explosion. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and ninety others were injured.

Further hearing was put off for November 16, 2001.
