SriLankan Airlines to re-launch holidays, stopovers program

SriLankan Airlines will re-launch its holidays and stopovers program under the SriLankan banner with the launch of two innovative holiday programs in SriLankan exotica and SriLankan adventure, on October 1.

SriLankan Holidays and Stopovers is an attractively re-designed program offering customers packages from one to four days or more, in Sri Lanka. stopover holiday package includes transfers from airport to hotel and vice versa and hotel accommodation with breakfast. Customers may opt for accommodation only or accommodation plus tour from a selection of 21 tours which offer a cross section of attractions that the country has to offer. These range from one-day excursions to longer tours taking in the beaches, hill country and Colombo city, an airline press release said.

"SriLankan Stopovers and Holidays is tailored for the individual customer or couple who would prefer taking a holiday by themselves as opposed to joining a package tour," SriLankan's Chief Executive Officer Peter Hill said "We offer a wide selection of holiday activities in Sri Lanka that I'm sure our customers would find very appealing," he said.

A typical tour includes the beaches in the south, the hill country including the city of Kandy and the hill station of Nuwara Eliya to the Cultural Triangle further north.

"We work with over 75 hotels which range from the city's five stars to beach resorts and smaller hotels, all over the island. So customers have a wide selection of accommodation to choose from," said Sunil Weliwitigoda, airline's Product Support Manager who is in charge of SriLankan Holidays and stopovers.

SriLankan is also introducing holiday packages under the SriLankan Exotica and SriLankan Adventure range for those customers who have special interests.

Under the SriLankan Exotica range the airline is introducing ayurveda holidays, archaeology tours, meditation retreats, pilgrim tours, tours on tea and rubber production, gemming and photography. Customers can choose to get married Sri Lankan style under the SriLankan Exotica program or take a rail or agriculture tour.

The SriLankan Adventure range offers holidays on water sports, hiking, walking, trekking, canoeing and kayaking, white water rafting, fishing, visiting caves and more.

"Sri Lanka has been traditionally known as a 'sun and sea' destination, but we find that increasingly tourists are visiting to satisfy other special interests for which reason we are introducing SriLankan Exotica and SriLankan Adventure," Mr. Hill said. I'm sure that our stopovers and holiday programs will become very popular and we look forward to expanding our product offer in the future."

SriLankan Holidays and Stopovers, SriLankan Exotica and SriLankan Adventure are essentially value-added services that we are offering our cusotmers. Our services don't stop with air travel; we are interested in ensuring they are satisfied with their entire holiday experience, Mr. Weliwitigoda said.
