New Zealand get two more tour matches SYDNEY, Sept 21 (AFP) - New Zealand will receive two extra leadup matches ahead of the first cricket Test against Australia in Brisbane in November, the Australian Cricket Board said Friday. The ACB agreed to the matches to give the Kiwis more match practice following the cancellation of New Zealand's tour of Pakistan amid safety fears in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. "We've agreed in principle but we obviously need to work that through logistically," an ACB spokesman said Friday. The ACB is expected to discuss the matter at a board meeting later Friday. New Zealand's tour of Australia was originally due to start on November 1 with a match against Queensland but it was now likely to start 10-14 days earlier. The first Test is set to start at the Gabba on November 8. |
