Minister Fowzie calls on Mahanayake Theras by L. B. Wijayasiri and Kandy District Group The Most Ven. Rambukwelle Sri Vipassi Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Mahavihara Chapter told Highways and Muslims Affairs Minister A. H. M. Fowzie that it was the responsibility of all the leaders in the country to commit themselves to protect mutual confidence and trust among the people of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities in the country, without keeping room for a minority extremist group to destroy that unity. Minister Fowzie called on the Most Ven. Vipassi Mahanayaka Thera and Most Ven. Udugama Sri Rathanapala Buddharakkhitha Mahanayak Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter yesterday to invite the prelates to participate in the ceremony to be held at Akurana to commemorate the birthday of Mohammed Nabi and the Muslim Cultural Festival. The Malwatte Mahanayaka Thera added that the country was in need of politicians who are devoted to work with love for the country and the people. The people of all communities in this land had been living in harmony and unity for centuries. But various problems had arisen as a result of the activities of a few extremist elements. The country could only be developed and peace ushered in by the people of various communities working together. The Mahanayake Thera appreciated the work of Minister Fowzie and said that he had been always working for the establishment of the unity among the people of all communities and for the benefit of the country. The Prelates accepted the Minister's invitations and blessed him. |
