Sufficient rain had as yet not been experienced in the hydro-catchment areas in the 24 hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. yesterday, Meteorologist S H Kariyawasam told the Daily News. There was some rainfall in the Sabaragamuwa,Central, Uva, and the North Central Provinces on Wednesday night and on Thursday morning. Of the hydro-catchment areas only Laxapana registered rainfall of 24.00 mm. The other catchment areas had not had any big showers, he said. Our Deraniyagala Correspondent reports that thundershowers lasted for several hours in Deraniyagala and its surrounding areas, on Wednesday night. |
