Vijay invites Mangala

The Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) interim committee will make a sectorial presentation of its day to day activities to the deputy Sports Minister Mangala Samaraweera some time next week.

BCCSL interim committee chairman Vijay Malalasekera made the invitation to the Minister to have a first hand account of how the Cricket Board functions, when he paid him a visit last Saturday.

"The Minister was very positive about the whole thing and showed great interest," said Malalasekera. The interim committee are in the process of putting together a presentation, focussing on management areas like administration, organisation and finances, and on their vision for the development of the game in the country, how it should be taken forward, the various problems they are confronted with on the legal and constitutional side, the development program, the progress made so far etc.

The Cricket Board is easily the richest sports organisation in the country. However its administration has been hit in recent years by financial mismanagement which has led to an interim committee being appointed by the former Sports Minister to run its day to day affairs.
