Commercial Bank - Global Finance's Best Bank in Lanka "Global Finance", a major international publication which recently conducted its 8th annual survey of best banks in 56 countries and regions has rated the Commercial Bank of Ceylon as the Best Bank in Sri Lanka, for the third consecutive year. The New York based monthly, which is circulated in 160 countries, has selected the Commercial Bank on the basis of its financial performance last year, its prudent use of resources, solid capital base and capital adequacy ratios. The survey of the "Best Emerging Market Banks in the World" ranks Citibank as the Best International Bank in Emerging Markets. Global Finance's rankings of the best domestic banks in emerging markets includes some well-known institutions from Asia such as HSBC, ICICI Bank in India, Shinhan Bank of South Korea and Malayan Banking Berhard - Malaysia, alongside the Commercial Bank of Ceylon. Commenting on the accolade, Commercial Bank's Managing Director Amitha Gooneratne said: "We are the only Sri Lankan bank to be selected for this award to date. This is a great honour and a recognition of our services and the capital strengths." |
