The SLBC last night reported that Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, MP has agreed to accept a ministerial portfolio in deference to requests made to him by religious dignitaries and voters.

Yesterday morning a group, several thousand persons had congregated at the former minister's residence and demanded that he consent to accept a ministerial portfolio.

Minister Fernandopulle together with Ministers Prof. G. L. Peiris, S. B. Dissanayake and Mahinda Wijesekera sent a joint letter to the President on September 11 resigning from their minister posts and expressing their desire not to accept ministerial posts.
