HONG KONG, Monday (Reuters)

A Hong Kong woman devastated by her failing marriage killed herself and all 12 of her pet cats. The 43-year-old hospital worker was found dead in her apartment on Sunday along with her beloved Persian cats, with piles of burnt charcoal nearby.

"She left a note, which showed she had marriage problems," a police spokeswoman said on Monday, confirming the woman died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The woman's relatives said the cats would be buried with her, the Chinese-language Apple Daily newspaper reported.
