Cricket gear for needy schools

Fourteen outstation schools unable to afford purchase of needed cricket gear to continue in the game will be the lucky recipients of equipment from Australia donated by the Sri Lanka Cricket Development Foundation of New South Wales, Australia.

The distribution will be made by Australia High Commissioner, Peter Rowe, tomorrow at the SSC at 3.30 pm.

This gear was made available by former Josephian cricketer Michael Berman, President, SLCDF, NSW through Harry Solomons, MD, Kingsgrove Sports Centre Sydney, Australia.

The container load of gear was cleared by Mercantile Shipping Company Ltd. whose MD and GM is Bertram Jayasuriya innovator of the now popular 'Catch it' fielding aid.
