The Colombo Magistrate Court Lawyers' Association will be celebrating its centenary year on Saturday, 15 September 2001. The Association has decided to commemorate the hundred years of the Magistrate Court being established in the present premises, by holding a seminar to educate the Public on the basic principles of law. This seminar will be held in the Community Based Correction Center hall opposite the Ceylon Law College, at 9.30 p.m. on 15 September 2001. Chief Justice, Sarath N. Silva PC, Minister R. B. Weerakoon, (Minister of Justice), and K. C. Kamalasabeyson, (Attorney General), will participate in the opening ceremony. Mr. Joseph Charles, Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Vidura Gunaratne, Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Nevil Aberatna, Attorney-at-Law, Miss Sudharma Bandarathilake, Attorney-at-Law and Mr. Anura Senevirathne, Attorney-at-Law will deliver lectures on emergency laws, family law, bribery law, maintenance law and customs law, respectively. Manoj Neelanga, Attorney-at-Law is the organizer of this event. It is expected that this seminar will immensely benefit the students sitting for the law entrance exam, law students, media personnel and members of the public. Those who are interested in attending the seminar are requested to register themselves with the librarian, Colombo Magistrate Court Lawyers Association and obtain seating cards. |
