Our Eravur group correspondent Five young men suspected of posing as soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army and collecting funds for the armed forces were arrested by the Valachchenai police on Saturday. These youth from Polwatte in the Kurunegala District were arrested in Valachchenai and Meeravodai, Police said. Though the amount of the collection has not been established yet, they demanded that the minimum amount that residents of the area should contribute was Rs. 50, residents told police. They were arrested on a tip off by the residents of these areas. Valachchenai OIC H.M. Piyasena is conducting investigations. |
