Doctor dies from gunshot injuries Dr. Malawi de Silva, an assistant medical officer at the Senarathpura Maternity Centre in Uhana, Ampara died of gun shot injuries when an automatic weapon carried by a home guard to whom he was speaking went off on Friday night last week. The Inginiyagala police said that information had been received of an impending terrorist attack on Uhana. The home guard had been posted to protect the hospital. Dr. Chandana Bandara who held the post-mortem said the death was due to severe injuries in the intestines. The Ampara Acting Magistrate Sriyani Wijewickrema held an inquiry and remanded the suspect till September 12. The Inginiyagala police is investigating. |
