'PA Govt. has implemented more development schemes than the UNP did in 17 years' by Ginigathena Spacial Correspondent The present PA Government headed by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has implemented more development schemes in the Ambagamuwa Korale during the past seven years than the UNP regimes did during the seventeen years, said the Central Provincial Councillor and the SLFP Chief Organiser Maskeliya W. G. Ranasinghe. He was speaking at the commissioning of a new electricity supply scheme at Homagama, Ginigathena in the Ambagamuwa Korale in the Nuwara Eliya district. The electricity supply scheme which was a long-felt need for the remote village of Homagama was constructed at a cost of Rs. 125,000 funded by the Asian Development Bank. He said that the PA Government implemented several electricity supply projects for so many remote villages in the Ambagamuwa Korale which had been without electricity facilities for a long time during the past several years. Steps are also being taken by the government to supply electricity for the remaining villages without such facilities in the area in the near future, he said. The Hatton Zonal Director of Education D. M. Abeyratne and Secretary to the Central Provincial Councillor (W. G. Ranasinghe) Saman Godagedera also spoke. |
