by Sarath Malalasekera The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) yesterday morning arrested a woman suspected of hard drug trafficking and a youth of Central Road, Pettah with a large quantity of heroin. The woman, Police described as 'Kudu Wasantha' of Obeysekerapura, Rajagiriya was arrested near the Welikada Remand Prison with 3 grammes and 100 milligrames of heroin. Investigations directed by Narcotics and Crimes DIG Sirisena Herath indicate that she was a supplier of heroin to prisoners. Her husband is now serving a jail term for the same offence at the Welikada Prison, PNB officials said. The youth who was arrested at Pettah had in his possession Rs. 8 lakhs worth of heroin, police said. Both suspects have been detained until the completion of the ongoing investigations. Senior SP Ranjith Weerasinghe, Senior SP H. Chandradasa and Inspector Amarajith de Silva, OIC, PNB are assisting in the investigations. |
